The V40 Cross country caused a sort of furore when it got the tag of the safest car ever tested by EuroNCAP and got the highest rating in the safety tests. The Swedish car maker launched the 2017 version of the V40 hatchback and it features several cosmetic changes which make it look even more futuristic and holds the Scandinavian fervor it is known for. The V40 now gets a full LED Thor’s hammers like headlamp cluster which is also seen on the newly launched Volvo S60 sedan. The front grille sports a waterfall design with the large iron-mark Volvo badge in its center. The side profile is similar to the outgoing model and sports a new set of 17 inch alloy wheels with a contemporary design whereas the rear end consists of the same large L-shaped crystal LED tail lights and dual exhaust pipe setup.

The interiors of the V40 Crossover are a piece of exquisite craftsmanship and company provides 5 different leather trims for the V40 model. V40 features fully adjustable ergonomically designed seats with electrical adjustment and heating function. A panoramic sunroof with illuminated lockable glovebox, all four door panels with storage pockets and storage between central console. The rear seats can also be folded in 60:40 format while the front passenger seats can also be folded completely.

Cross Country also features a personal car communicator with keyless entry and drive. A fixed panoramic sunroof helps in uplifting the cabin ambience. The crossover also has a Bluetooth and USB enabled high performance Harman Kardon audio system with a 7 inch touch screen with Volvo’s SENSUS navigation system.

It features a first in the world pedestrian airbag, safety cage, 2-stage front airbags with driver side knee airbag, emergency brake assist with ABS, side impact protection and whiplash protection. Along with that it also features park assist pilot, rear parking camera and Volvo’s City safety feature.

V40 Cross Country is available with a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 1969 cc of displacement and is capable of churning out a power of 150bhp with 320 nm of torque whilst mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox which sends power to the front wheels.
