Looking to lure and at the same time change it brand image, Tata Motors has been aggressively working on making their products better than before. Off this, the recent introduction of Tiago hatchback goes to show the true intent on behalf of the manufacturer that it has delivered on the expectations of the end consumer by clocking in more than 20,000 bookings for this hot hatch. In yet another move, the home grown automaker is believed to be prepping itself for a Cross Version or should we be saying a heavily accessorized version of the regular hatch to woo the Indian buyer. This is not the first time that we are talking about it, it was not long back that the manufacturer displayed such a version during Delhi Auto Expo 2016 with the badge – Tiago Aktiv.
Therefore Tata Tiago Aktiv is expected to be a fully pimped up vehicle which is being considered to be delivered to the showrooms with factory fitments (additional accessories that is). However in the current scheme of things, as step one Tata Motors is looking to take special orders from consumers to see the market response after which it would decide on whether or not to make it a separate model from the regular hatch. Therefore the accessory add-ons that are being spoken about here currently come at an additional cost of INR 30,000 over and above the actual cost of this vehicle. If brought into production as a standalone model, then expect the prices to be on the higher side.
Tata Tiago Aktiv Exterior –
A benchmark above the regular hatchback, the Tata Tiago Aktiv will offer more mullah for its appearance. The new chin or the front facade set the mood going for any on-looker as it is the most attractive part of this vehicle. Furthermore, matte black finish coupled with a metallic strip used for the scuff plate provides it a very rugged feel. The company has been generous enough to use metallic bits throught the profile to give it that much needed look.
In short, Tiago Aktiv cosmetic accessories are impeccable which makes its design debonair. Its modern and distinctive design is further flanked by classy stickerering (body decals) visible on doors and bonnet, are bound to catch the naked eye. Other features such as silver touched roof rails, elongated character line running across the body shell and revised alloy wheels make this Cross look smart. While the rear remains unchanged in its case. The swanky Striker Blue paint job visible on the car through revealed images indicate that funky new colours could be in the pipeline for customers in India.
Tata Tiago Aktiv Interior-
Like the exteriors, the interiors have also been accentuated with a touch of silver accents around air vents and centre console. Gentle use of silver ensures that the regular monotony of a black interior is broken as the user gets a slightly refreshed cabin. Feature highlights on board include a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with mounted audio controls, premium seat upholstery, 60:40 rear split folding seat, electrically powered ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirror) along with front and rear power windows. Surpassing all the expectation in its segment, it will come equipped with segment-first Juke-Car app and Smart phone enabled Turn-By-Turn navigation app. The goodies bag isn’t yet full as this vehicle will also sport two driving modes-Eco and City. The managment of the company has given great deal of attention to each and every minute detail to keep it exclusive. As for storing your knick knacks, there are as many as 22 storage space which is quite interesting coming to think of it! While the boots space stands at 240-litres. On the whole, this cabin can easily accomodate 4 individuals in utter comfort.
Tata Tiago Aktiv Engine-
Like the regular version, Taigo Aktiv will also be powered by the same all-new three-cylinder, 1.05-Litre, Revotorq diesel engine that belts out 70 Bhp of power output with 140Nm of peak torque. The use of cast iron cylinder block and aluminum cylinder head help improve the engine performance. On the contrary, the company is also expected to offer a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Revotron, all-aluminum petrol engine that produces 85 Bhp and 114Nm torque, respectively. Both these diesel and petrol engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Safety aspect is taken care by dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors with display available on its infotainment screen, advanced 9th generation ABS with EBD, energy absorbing body structure and corner stability control.
Tata Tiago Aktiv Competition-
Once launched, Tata Tiago Aktiv should become country’s most affordable Crossover. It will compete against the likes of Chevrolet Beat Activ, Toyota Liva Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo depending entirely on the price point at which this vehicle is finally introduced into the Indian car market.
