Skoda, Czech based automaker is all gearing up to revive its product line-up by introducing four new products in the Indian market next year. The company also revealed its plan to make things fascinating for the 2017 after witnessing a sluggish start this year. The company will be introducing Rapid Monte Carlo special edition alongside Skoda Kodiaq SUV, Octavia RS and Octavia Black Edition in the Indian market by the end of 2017. The company is also gearing up for the launch of Rapid facelift which is slated by the end of this year or early 2017. For the European markets, Monte Carlo edition package is also offered in other models such as Citigo, Fabia, Rapid and Yeti. These special editions were manufactured to pay homeage to company’s racing heritage.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition – Exterior
On the exterior front, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition comes with substantial cosmetic updates that derive the car with a unique look. The red body color of the Monte Carlo edition cars is the main highlight that accentuates the overall appearance of the car with other features such as OVRMs, body accents, headlamp inserts, alloy wheels and many more. Rapid Monte Carlo comes with Superb-inspired front grille, revised front bumper, wider air vents, horizontal LED fog lamps, new matte black bumper chin and side skirts.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition – Interior
On the inside, the Monte Carlo edition Rapid comes with sporty bucket-style upholstery with black, grey and red colours for the seating. The inclusion of stainless steel pedals as well as carbon fibre dashboard trim enhances the sporty character of the car. In terms of features, Monte Carlo Rapid sports a multi-functional steering wheel enclosed in red-stitched leather and a sporty instrument cluster that augments the individuality of the Monte Carlo edition.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition – Engine specifications and Performance
As far as the engine specifications are concerned, the new Rapid Monte Carlo edition is likely to be driven by the same engine option offered in the current version of Rapid – 1.6-litre MPI petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines. The petrol engine will produce 103bhp of power against the peak torque of 153Nm whereas the oil burner churns out same power figure of 103bhp with the peak torque of 250Nm. The Transmission options are likely to be carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition – Launch Date, Price and Competition
The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is expected to reach Indian shores by the end of this year or early 2017. Expected to be priced in the range of INR 10 lakh – INR 12 lakh (ex-showroom), the sedan will go against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Nissan Sunny.
