Renault India introduced the new range for Lodgy MPV with new 16 enhancements deriving it as an ideal amalgamation of performance, comfort, safety, convenience as well as unmatched fuel efficiency. The new Stepway range comes with an introductory price tag of INR 9.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) classifying it as a best equipped MPV in this particular price range. Offered in 5 variants, the new Lodgy Stepway range is powered by a K9K 1.5 litre dCi diesel engine which generates power figures in two tuned states – 85 PS and 110PS. Also, the new Lodgy Stepway MPV is offered in 6 exciting colours. The Stepway decal at the sides derives the MPV with an elegant look so as the jewel-studded front grille along with attractive fog lamps at the front fascia. Dimensionally, the new Lodgy Stepway comes with a length of 4522mm, width of 1767mm, height of 1709mm along with wheelbase of 2810mm.

Renault, French auto maker has introduced some new interesting features to its Lodgy MPV, the company has launched Lodgy ‘World Edition’ in the domestic market. Priced at INR 9.74 lakh for the 83bhp variant and INR 10.40 lakh for the 108bhp variant, the special edition of the MPV comes with 8-seater configuration along with 25 new enhancements for the exterior as well as the interior.
With the lodgy, Renault has made its entry into the constantly populating MPV segment in India. Aimed at challenging the Toyota Innova, which has been the segment dominator since its inception, the Renault Lodgy seems to have a lot in store for the interested buyers. To make things more interesting, Renault recently launched the Lodgy Stepaway edition which is basically a crossover version of the MPV.
On the outside, the Renault Lodgy looks quite big and daunting. At the front, the headlights feature a similar Renault design philosophy and housed between them is the elegant looking grille with a thick chrome stripe. The air dam and the fog lamps are also outlined by chrome fittings. The extensive use of chrome up front gives the car a premium look. What really takes the cake is the finely sculpted chin. Moving towards the sides, the vehicle starts to lose its curves and project a more boxy appearance. We get black B and C-pillars while the D-pillar is quite thick and might hamper rear visibility while parking. Things soon turn boring once we reach the back of the vehicle. The taillights feature a unique design characteristic but the rest of the facia has an awkward stance. There is significant use of chrome at the back as well although it fails to provide the elegance that we see up-front. The boot lid gets a high mounted stop lamp while the bumper receives black plastic cladding treatment.
The cabin follows beige and grey colour scheme and the design elements make the cabin look plain and simple. The air-con vents, door handles, gear knob and the dials on the instrument cluster get chrome outlines. On the centre console, the vehicle gets a touch screen multimedia system which is highlighted by shiny black plastic. The lower half of the centre console consists of a standard, dial operated air con control unit. The dashboard gets a top mounted storage space which is quite user friendly. The middle row is spacious but the knee room could be a problem in long distance journeys. The third row on the other hand is best suited for young children. The biggest advantage of the Lodgy is that the third row can be completely removed and with the middle row folded down, the boot space is humongous.
Engine and performance
The Renault Lodgy comes with 2 diesel engine options. A 1.5 litre motor which churns out 110bhp and 245Nm of peak torque. The Engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Renault has offered a less powerful motor as well, which is also a 1.5 litre diesel unit. This engine is capable of producing 85bhp and 200Nm of torque. It transfers its powers to the front wheels with the help of a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Renault Lodgy offers a stiff competition to the Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Quanto.
