The Porsche Macan is basically a five door luxury crossover SUV from the house of luxury German car manufacturer – Porsche. The Macan range is offered in many variants which include Macan, Macan S, Macan S Diesel, Macan GTS and the Macan Turbo. However, for the Indian market only S Diesel and Turbo is available.
Enhancing its Macan offering, the German automaker rolled out Macan R4 in the Indian market with a price tag of INR 76.84 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). The Macan R4 is also the least expensive Porsche SUV from the stable of German automaker. Moreover, the bookings for the R4 SUV have already initiated across the country with a token amount of INR 10 lakh. The R4 SUV is the fourth variant on offer in the current portfolio alongside Macan S diesel, Macan Turbo and Macan Turbo with Performance Package.
Porsche Macan – Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the Porsche Macan is offered in various powertrain options which vary as per the variant. The Macan S Diesel is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 turbodiesel engine that is tuned to develop 254 bhp of power along with 580 Nm. The Macan Turbo and Macan Turbo with Performance package both are equipped with 3.6 litre V6 twin-turbo that are tuned to generate two different power figures – 395 bhp and 440bhp. The new R4 variant is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol mill that develops 248bhp and 370Nm of power figures. The transmission duties are carried out by a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK auto box that transmits power to all four wheels.

Talking on the performance front, the Macan S Diesel is claimed to touch down 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds prior hitting the top speed of 230 kmph. The Macan Turbo and Turbo with Performance package can easily attain 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds and 4.4 seconds respectively with top speed of 266 kmpl & 272 kmpl. The new Macan R4 can easily reach three-figure mark in just 6.7 seconds to reach a top speed of 229kmph.

On the inside, the Porsche Macan comes with elegantly designed cockpit with hi-tech gizmos that complements the new multifunction steering wheel along with shift paddles. The rear seats are designed to be more comfortable which also comes with optional seat ventilation. Feature wise, the Macan sports Porsche Entry and Drive, four-zone auto climate control and panorama sunroof, air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management. Additional options such as surround camera, Sport Chrono package and soft-close doors and much more.

Talking about the dimensional front, the Macan Turbo variant comes with length of 4699mm, width of 1923mm, height of 1624mm along with wheelbase of 2807mm. On the other hand, the Macan S diesel gets length, width, height of 4681mm, 1923mm and 1624mm along with 2807mm of wheelbase. Whereas, Macan TBA measures 4699mm of length, 1923mm of width, 1609mm and 2807mm of wheelbase. The dimensions of new Macan R4 stands at 4697mm with length, 1923mm in width, 1624mm of height along with wheelbase of 2807mm.

The Porsche Macan sports a sharp design with sleeker lines that proffers a striking appearance to the SUV. Up-front, the SUV comes with sleek headlamps, striking signature style Porsche grille, beefy bonnet and the front wings that provide a spiky look. At the rear, the SUV comes with all new tail light cluster, boot handle and lights which are integrated elegantly into the boot.

As far as the competition is concerned, the Macan SUV goes head-on against the Jaguar F-Pace SUV, BMW X1 and Audi Q5.
