Mitsubishi Motors is looking revive its position in the market by launching new generation Pajero Sport, Outlander and Montero SUVs in the Indian car market during the period of 2016-17. The company has confirmed that the new generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will make its Indian debut after the launch of the new Montero and the Outlander in the country in 2016.
Exterior and Interiors
The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will feature not only major exterior changes but also interior design upgrades. Based on the company’s Dynamic Shield Design, the new model employs the same ladder-frame chassis that also underpins the fifth generation Triton. The front fascia of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will sport an X-shaped chrome grille that will be flanked by stylish projector headlamps along with L-shaped LED DRLs. Moreover, a new wide air-dam and sporty front bumpers will accommodate all new pair of fog lamps that will offer it with an aggressive character.
On the inside, the new Pajero Sport will be masked by plush leather upholstery giving the interior cabin an elegant look. Moreover, steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, an electronic parking brake as well as large touch-screen for the infotainment system are incorporated in the new Pajero Sport which will adds an elegant touch to the premium off-roader.
Under the hood, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is likely to get a new 2.4-litre 4-cylinder MIVEC diesel engine which can easily produce 181PS of power along with 430Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
Launch Date, Price and Competition
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be unveiled at the upcoming 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and it is anticipated to reach out for the Indian market by the end of 2016 or early 2017. As far as the pricing and competition is concerned, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be priced in the range of INR 22 lakh – INR 25 lakh and will lock horns against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
