Maruti Vitara Brezza has dealt a heavy blow to the compact vehicle segment in the short span that it has been on the road. The compact SUV marked Maruti’s late but whirlwind entry in the sub-4 meter segment which has not shown any signs of sluggishness yet. Available in sole diesel options with a starting price of INR 7.19 lakh meant that the public was in for a fairly good looking compact SUV with a frugal 1.3-Litre LDi diesel engine at the price of a premium hatchback. But Maruti Suzuki is looking to bring a Boosterjet 1.0 litre engine in the Vitara Brezza as the diesel engines are becoming uncertain day by day.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Exterior
On the exterior front, one can expect no changes as the sub-compact SUV will continue with a thick chrome strip with honeycomb background flanked by swept back headlamps. The petrol iteration of Brezza will also have the big air dams with black bordered wheel arches. It will sport a strong beltline whereas the rear profile will carry the same silver chrome strip over the number plate. It will also flaunt wraparound tail lamps with a faux silver skid plate that provides an elegant appeal to the rear end. The dual tone paint and a new badge revealing the engine derivative will also make its way to the petrol Brezza.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Interior
Coming to the interiors, the petrol iteration of Vitara Brezza will carry the same overall design as that of the current model. Feature wise, it will consist start/stop function, leather trim on steering wheel, gear lever and a smart infotainment screen with Apple Carplay, voice command and Bluetooth connectivity. The new Boosterjet equipped Brezza has an instrument cluster with five shades of mood lighting Red, Blue, Orange, pink and White. The car has ABS with EBD and dual airbags across the line as standard. The boot space will also be the same, 328-litres, for the petrol variant.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Engine Specifications and Mileage
Maruti Vitara Brezza has been selling briskly with the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine that produces 89 bhp @ 4000 rpm and peak torque of 200 nm @ 1750 rpm. The new addition is believed to be a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that also does duty on Baleno RS. The engine will be tuned to produce max power of 110 bhp against peak torque of 170Nm. The transmission duties will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. As it is a turbocharged petrol mill, it is expected to be fuel efficient with an economy of 22 kmpl.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Launch Date, Price and Competition
The prices of the Petrol variant of Vitara Brezza could be around INR 7 lakh for the base variant going all the way to 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which is on par with the regular diesel variant. The 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine is likely to be imported so the common perception of petrol models being cheaper than the diesel might not stand here. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol is likely to be launched in April of 2017. The competition will be the petrol variants of Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta.
