Maruti Suzuki, country’s leading automaker has finally launched the AMT diesel variant of its popular compact sedan- the Maruti Swift Dzire in the Indian market at INR 8.39 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Based on the top-end ZDi variant, the Dzire Auto Gear Shift rivals against the Tata Zest diesel AMT, which is presently the most affordable diesel automatic car in the country.

Maruti Suzuki India is looking forward to expedite the introduction of its new-gen Swift Dzire sedan in the Indian market by 2017 – 18. Earlier, MSI had plans to introduce the new-gen Swift Dzire sedan in the fiscal 2018 -19 but in order to safeguard its dominance and tackle the uprising competition in this segment, MSI is now planning to introduce new gen Swift Dzire in the year 2017 – 18. Also Maruti Suzuki India is all set to introduce an automatic gear shift variant next month.
The new Swift Dzire is anticipated to be produced at Suzuki Motor Corp facility located at Gujarat, which is likely to be operational during fiscal 2016-17. Moreover, MSI is looking to revive its fleet of popular models such as Swift, Dzire and Ertiga with a strategy to double annual sales to 2 million units by the year 2020. The Swift Dzire model will feature a new design along with superior engine specifications as well as full-body changes.
Also, company is further planning to introduce a petrol variant for Dzire Tour model, aimed for taxi operators, which is available only in diesel version, can be further retrofitted with CNG kit as per new norms in the capital city.

With a remarkable response for AMT option variants of Alto K10, Celerio and Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki India is currently planning to bring-in automatic gear box to Swift Dzire. Along with Maruti Swift Dzire, MSI will also introduce AMT version of Maruti Swift hatch in the Indian auto market. Moreover, MSI is also currently working on Next Gen Swift Dzire which is expected launch in the year 2017.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire was one the first compact sedans to enter the Indian market. It is currently the bestselling model in its very segment. In the period of last seven years, the Swift Dzire has undergone three facelift with the most recent one being launched this very year. The new-generation Swift Dzire comes with the same design philosophy as its predecessors and the overall profile looks largely identical to the previous model except for the addition of some sharper design elements. Currently, Maruti is also working on its Range Extender hybrid and is considering one of the swift siblings to be the company’s first plug-in hybrid in India.
The basic design of Swift Dzire had hardly changed from the first-generation model, but with the recent facelift version Maruti Suzuki has improvised the style and appearance of the car. The latest facelift model offered by Maruti Suzuki is the most appealing Swift Dzire as it gets sharper exterior features, smooth body lines along with nicely molded boot lid. The front fasica gets larger sweptback headlamps, all new bumper design and new fog lamps with chrome bezels along with a new single slat chrome grille. The additional chrome treatment along with the new sporty alloy wheels provides the car a premium appearance. The rear profile largely remains the same with no new addition except for some minor detailing.
Talking about the dimensions, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire measures 3995mm in length, 1695mm in width and 1555mm in height. Moreover, it also gets wheelbase of 2430mm and ground clearance of 170mm. The new Swift Dzire is offered in seven different exterior colours – Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, Cave Black, Pacific Blue, Magma Grey, ALP Blue and Sangria Red.
In terms of safety, the new facelift version of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire gets reverse parking sensors which comes only in the top variants only. However, the remaining features are as same as that of the outgoing model. The base variant gets 3 point seat belts, rear door child locks and an immobilizer device. Whereas the mid range variants comes with automatic door-lock and a security alarm system with hood sensing. The top variants get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, height adjustable front ELR facility and some other advanced safety features.
Interior and Feature:
On the inside, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire gets some substantial changes as well as up-gradations providing it with an upmarket feel. However, the basic outline of Swift Dzire remains the same but the quality of materials as well as design has enhanced a lot. The upholstery is much more premium and comfortable and in terms of convenience, the rear seat now comes with a 60:40 partition. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire gets some new features as standard fitment to keep up with the modern trend in car technology. The top-variants gets engine start/stop button, new upholstery, front and rear charging socket, electrically foldable rear view mirrors, audio and Bluetooth control on the steering wheel, reverse parking sensors and much more.
Engine Specifications and Mileage:
The new 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire facelift is equipped with both petrol and diesel engine options. While the engines are the same ones that powered the previous generation model, Maruti has tweaked the engines to offer slightly more power and increased fuel efficiency. The petrol variant is powered by an 1197cc, 1.2-litre K Series VVT engine that produces 86.2 PS of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried by 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic gearbox, transmitting power to the front wheel. The diesel variant is equipped with a 1248cc, 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine that can easily generate 75 PS of maximum power and 190Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. With several changes made in engine hardware, Maruti Suzuki has improved thermal efficiency and managed to reduce frictional losses. The new Dzire provides fuel efficiency of 26.59kmpl for the diesel model, enhanced by about 13 per cent as compared to previous model. Meanwhile, the petrol model offers mileage of 20.85kmpl, marking an improvement of over 9 per cent.
Price and Competition:
The petrol Swift Dzire is priced at INR 5.08 lakh for the base variant and INR 6.81 lakh for the top-of-the-line model. Prices for the diesel variants start at INR 6.0 lakh going up to INR 7.82 lakh to the range topping Swift Dzire. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire competes with the likes of Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Honda Amaze in the Indian market.
