Launched in February 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been doing an excellent business for MSI in India. This entry-level hatchback is positioned between the Wagon R and the Ritz. Based on A-Wind concept unveiled at Thailand Motor Show, the small car looks more modern with its practical interiors and exteriors. It is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The small car is claimed to be the country's most fuel efficient car.
Dimensionally, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback measures 3.6 metres in length, 1.6-metres in width and 1.5-metres in height, and it comes with a 2.4 metre of wheelbase. This tall boy hatchback features Suzuki's new design language with a curved twin-slat grille, flanked by sweptback headlamps. The angular shaped headlaps console and bumper offers a modern feel. On sides, the hatch gets bold character lines that run across the lenght, and nice set of alloy wheels. At the back, the small car shares the tail lamp cluster with bigger siblings.
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio features beige and black upholstery that suits Indian car buyers. The range-topping model gets Bluetooth enabled music system, fabric upholstery and height adjustable driver's seat. On safety front, the hatchback has an optional ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and dual front airbags. The vehicle is spacious enough to accommodate four adults comfortably, though the second row can accommodate three passengers for short rides. It offers good 235-litres of boot space, which is more than sufficient to carry your weekend luggage. Also the rear seats can be folded down to increase the cargo volume.
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol unit is a 1.0-litre K10B motor that churns out 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque, the oil burner is a newly developed 793cc, 2-cylinder motor producing 47bhp of power and 125Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission comes as standard, while the gasoline powered hatchback also gets an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option. The vehicle is also available in CNG version.
