The Maruti Suzuki Alto has been with us since almost an eternity. This entry level hatchback from the Indo-Japanese automaker started life as a humble mini hatchback, offering monumental reliability and acceptable levels of comfort and came with generous feature which are needed in a budget urban commuter. Since its launch, the Alto continues to be the best selling car in India, month after month, with a monthly average sales of 22,000 units. A lot of other players tried taking on the Alto but were never really able to come even close to its success quotient. With the discontinuation of the Maruti 800, the automaker merged the Alto nomenclature with the former and now this hatch sells with a name of Alto 800. When launched it was often criticized for its looks but that did not seem to bother the ones rooting for it. Nevertheless, Maruti recently decided to provide the car with a mid-life facelift which improved the styling of the car to a certain extent.
