Lexus RX450h Overview
Lexus is entering India for the first time and for the uninitiated, it’s a luxury marquee of the well known Japanese brand Toyota. The Lexus RX450h was launched by the company in 1998 in the international market and is well known for combining the ruggedness of an SUV with the relaxed driving comfort of a sedan. The Lexus 450h is available in hybrid and petrol power train but it remains to be seen which derivatives Lexus will bring in India.
Lexus RX450h Exteriors
As expected from a Lexus, the RX450h has a bold front fascia with the company’s signature spindle grille which is topped by chrome plated border and triple L-shaped LED headlamps while bi-LED headlamps will be standard. On the sides are visible the blacked out C-pillars, floating roof along with 20 inch alloy wheels. Other features on the exterior design comprise of flush fitting headlights washers, panoramic moon roof, solid roof rails and smart access door handles with illumination function. The rear end boasts of wraparound L-shaped taillights which cover the tailgate section with the rear fender.
Lexus RX450h Interiors
The interiors are luxurious in the Lexus and combine functionality with opulence. The cabin has been designed with high end trims ranging from Matte Bamboo, Espresso Walnut, Matte Linear Dark Mocha Wood, Striated Black Trim or Gray Sapele Wood with Aluminum. It’s a five seating SUV and standout features like touch free power door and power rear hatch. It comes with a Lexus Human Interface (LHI) with HUD mode integrated to the instrument cluster. The 8-inch touchscreen display comes with HD radio, Bluetooth, voice recognition, micro SD card slot, two USB ports, AUX and 9 speakers.
Lexus RX450h Safety Features
A long list of safety features make their way to the RX450h which consist of more than 8 SRS airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, disc brakes on all wheels, BA, ABS with EBD, lane departure assist, radar cruise control, park assist, intelligent high beam, blind spot monitor, adaptive suspension and Hill assist control.
Lexus RX450h Engine specifications
The engine on offer will be a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine with 295 bhp of power and 362 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The other engine option is a 3.5 litre V6 with hybrid power train and delivers an output of 308 bhp with 335 Nm of torque.
Lexus RX450h expected price and competition
Lexus is a premium marquee brand for Toyota and is expected to be priced very high which could be around INR 1crore. On the other hand, it will compete against the Mercedes Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and BMW X5.
