Jaguar, the British luxury automaker known for its high-end premium sedan cars such as XJ and XF introduced the new XE sedan at Delhi Auto Expo 2016. Priced at INR 39.9 lakh, the company entered into the entry-level sports segment with its all-new offering, Jaguar XE. The new XE sedan heats up the segment with BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The XE sedan is based on company’s newly developed advanced aluminium architecture that also underpins the future Jaguar’s. This new aluminium platform is asserted to be lighter and stiffer which contributes on performance and efficiency factor. The new XE shares majority of it designing element with XF and XJ but comes with different front fascia which features rectangular grille with mesh grille inserts, slender head lights. Moreover, the front bumpers are slightly shorter compared to XF saloon. The side profile gets sloping roofline, flared wheel arches, sewage lines across the length adds a sporty look of the sedan. The rear end bags roof-mounted spoiler, wrap-around tail lamps, dual-exhaust system as well as chrome strip.
On the inside, the XE sedan share resembles with its larger siblings which comes equipped with dual tone instrument panel, functional steering wheel, satellite navigation, DAB audi, heater leather front seats with different stitches, leather covers, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats and Meridian sound system. It also bags an eight-inch touch-screen interface for its navigation and InControl infotainment system.
Under the bonnet, the XE saloon is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that proffers two tuning states – 197bhp and 237bhp. The transmission duties are carried out by a six-speed and eight-speed automatic units. Moreover, the sedan features torque vectoring by braking and All Surface Progress Control.
Price and Competition
As far as the price is concerned, the Jaguar XE is priced in the range of INR 39.9 lakh – INR 46.5 lakh and competes with BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class in the same segment.
