Fiat, the Italian automaker launched the old Punto hatchback with an all-new name, Punto Pure at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 with a price tag of INR 4.49 lakh. With the sole purpose to exhaust the stock of the older generation, the company has re-introduced the old Punto will an all-new name. Moreover, original Punto was first launched for the Indian market in the year 2011 and got discontinued later in the year 2014, just prior to the launch of Punto Evo.
On the exterior front, Punto Pure bags same design language as that of its predecessor. The front profile gets a small grille which comes embedded with the company emblem at the center. Long and stylish bonnet goes well with the crease lines offering an eye catching factor to it. The body coloured bumper looks neat with smaller air vents. On the side, elegantly designed fine creases run across the length and gets body coloured door handles as well as side mirrors. The rear profile gets symmetrically designed tail lamps that come aligned to the windscreen. It is available in three exterior paint jobs - Exotic Red, Hip Hop Black and Bossanova White. As far as the dimensions are concerned, newly launched hatchback measures 3987 in length, 1687mm in width, 1495mm in height along with wheelbase of 2510mm. It also gets decent ground clearance of 195mm sufficient to tackle typical Indian terrains.
On the inside, the cabin manages to proffer fair ambience as it doesn’t get any sort of design modifications. Moreover, the all-black dashboard is the highlight of the cabin which features hi-tech system. Also, 3-spoke steering wheel looks simple and misses out on multi-functional controls. The dual tone fabric seats are equipped adequately offering sufficient leg room with greater comfort.
Engine Specifications and Mileage
Talking about the power house, the new Punto Pure is available in both petrol and diesel options - 1.4-litre Fire petrol engine and 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine. The diesel engine is good for generating 89bhp of power and 197Nm of torque, while the petrol version is capable of producing power of 89bhp along with torque of 115Nm. Moreover, the company also introduced a 1.2-litre engine that generates 67bhp of max power and torque of 96Nm. Power will be transmitted to front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. As far as the mileage is concerned, the petrol variant returns mileage of 15.7kmpl while the diesel variant offers fuel efficiency of 20.3kmpl.
Price and Competition
As far as the pricing is concerned, the petrol variant is priced at INR 4.49 lakh and the diesel version is priced at INR 5.49 lakh. Talking about the competition, the newly launched hatch competes against the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10, Chevrolet Beat, Nissan Micra, Honda Brio and segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift.
