Chevrolet or fondly called Chevy has a long history. A really long one indeed with 104 years of travelling on the roads all over the world. Started way back in 1911 by, no surprise, a Swiss race car driver named Louis Chevrolet, the brand has been through a lot of owners, a lot of patrons and certainly a lot of turmoil. And most of these things happened after Chevrolet came under the umbrella of General Motors. As a company it underwent as many logo changes as it did with its performance. From what was supposedly a sportier version of a four wheeler, to competing with the greats of consumer automobiles like Ford, Chevrolet did it all.
It has an undeniable influence on the American automobile market in specific and automobile industry as a whole. The company offered Corvette to the world, the two seater sports car that was the stuff of legend. But despite a name that rings nostalgia and a performance that’s both peppy and premier to feel, Chevrolet had a troublesome era till the early 2000s. That is when GM revived the Chevrolet marquee in a full fledged manner and it did pay off albeit slowly.
India was one of the markets that welcomed the revival of Chevrolet, which was the only big ticket for GM to have a prominent spot in India. With Chevrolet Beat, the company offered some never before features such as 3 years free service, increased service stations. The two reasons that hindered the massive success of other players helped Chevrolet as it worked on improving it. This move proved worthwhile and that is cemented by the launch of a series of vehicles under the Chevrolet brand in India. The Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Sail, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Aveo and an ever increasing such range can be witnessed on Indian roads and we can’t be more happy about it!
