Volkswagen had showcased the VW Tiguan in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The SUV has now been spotted in Bangalore at a dealer’s stockyard. The SUV spied at the dealership is a LHD version and seems to be the same one that was spotted at the auto expo. The Volkswagen Tiguan is based on the modular MQB platform that also underpins the Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen Passat. The VW Tiguan India launch is slated for early 2017. The 2016 VW Tiguan is the first vehicle from Volkswagen to feature LED headlights whereas the SUV also gets LED DRLs that blends nicely into the dual slatted chrome grille. The side profile of the car features a chrome strip underneath the windows and a chrome line across the bottom of the car. The SUV rides on diamond cut 18-inch alloy wheels that give the SUV a bold stance. The rear profile sports split LED taillights, sporty rear spoiler, wide tailgate and twin exhaust pipes housed inside the rear bumper. Internationally, the Volkswagen Tiguan is available in two engine options. While the 2.0-ltr TSI turbocharged petrol engine produces 177bhp of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque, the 2.0-ltr TDI turbocharged diesel engine churns out a maximum power of 148bhp and a peak torque of 340Nm. Both the engines are offered with two transmission options; a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
