Tata Motors has been the one that introduced the first sub-4 meter compact sedan and the old player is all set to enter the market with a new and stylish looking package in the form of the Tigor. The Tata Tigor is slated for launch at the end of this month but as it comes to the market it will have to compete with the newer models upcoming models. So here are the upcoming compact sedans slated for the Indian market.
Tigor is based upon the Tiago hatchback and follows the IMPACTNext design philosophy. Tata Tigor has well proportioned rear end and not abrupt while it has a coupe like styling called the Styleback. The Tigor is going to feature a new touchscreen system and a bigger boot at the 419 litres. The engines on offer will include a 3 cylinder 1.2 litre Revotron which churns out 84 bhp of power with 114 Nm of torque. Oil burner, on the contrary is a Revotorq 1.05 litre engine which churns out 69 bhp of power with a max torque of 140 Nm. Expect prices in range of INR 4.5 lakh to 7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire
The uncrowned king of the segment, Dzire will be coming in a new avatar by the festive season this year. Dzire will be sporting several changes to its exteriors as well as interiors. Maruti is likely to offer a choice in engine options which includes 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine churning out 83 bhp of power with 115 Nm of max torque. It might also come with Maruti’s in-house diesel engine with SHVS technology. The prices will be in the range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Beat based compact sedan might help salvage the American automakers current plight in India. The Essentia is expected to launch in the first half of 2017 as the vehicle has been spotted testing several times now. On offer will be a 1.2 litre petrol engine along with a 1.0 litre diesel which churn out 77 bhp and 56 bhp respectively. Expect Chevrolet prices to be in the range of INR 4.5 lakh to INR 7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
Hyundai Xcent 2017
Hyundai Xcent will be coming to India anytime soon as they recently brought the hatchback sibling as well. The Xcent will have a new rear end with additional features in the cabin like a touchscreen infotainment and more. The engine department will come with a new 1.2 litre diesel engine which churns out 75 bhp while petrol motor remains the same as earlier. The pricing could increase by around INR 15 to 20,000 and range in the 5.6 lakh to 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
