Tata Motors are to launch their second new product of the year 2017, the Tigor ‘Styleback’ in India on the 29th of March. Ahead of its official debut, Tata Motors have now opened the bookings of this compact sedan. Interested buyers can now pre-book the Tigor at a token amount of INR 5,000 at any Tata Motors dealership across India. When launched it is expected that the Tata Tigor prices in India could very well fall in the bracket of INR 4.5 to 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tigor was first unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo as a concept under the name Kite 5. Recently, however, the production spec version made it to the world premier at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Tiago hatchback, the Tigor, apart from a few cosmetic changes and an extended boot at the back, is quite similar to that of the former.
The Tigor, much like the Tiago is a breeze to drive, you can read all about which in our first drive review. It shares the same engine specifications as that of the Tiago. The petrol derivative is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine while the diesel derivative gets a 1.05-litre Revotorq motor. Talking about features, the Tata Tigor comes with a new touchscreen infotainment system which features Tata Motor’s ConnectNEXT. Also, unique to Tigor is an air-con system that features a digital display. Also to be found only on the Tigor, is a rear seat mounted arm rest. When launched, the Tata Tigor will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo among the others.
