Tata Motors is soon going to launch the Tiago equipped with an AMT gearbox. Though an exact launch date of the same has not yet been revealed but it seems to be closing in as multiple times the test mules of this upcoming automatic hatchback have been spotted.
Now once again, thanks to Team BHP, a few spy images of one of the test mules of the Tata Tiago AMT have come to light. Going by these soy shots, the Tata Tiago is to get a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
For starters, this automated manual transmission will come equipped only with the petrol derivative at an initial stage. The diesel AMT will follow in at a later stage. Going by the images, there seems to be no changes made, either to the interior of the exterior profile of the Tiago AMT.
It is expected that in order to keep the prices under control, the AMT gearbox will only be equipped with the mid-spec XM and XT variants and not top of the lines XZ trim.
Currently, the Tata Tiago comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, in both the petrol and diesel guises. The petrol derivative gets a 1.2-itre Revotron engine while the diesel derivative gets a 1.03-litre Revotorq oil-burner.
Prices for the Tata Tiago start at INR 3.20 lakh and goes up to INR 5.54 (ex-showroom, Delhi) lakh for the top of the line variant. The prices of the AMT are expected to be slotted around the mark of INR 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
