Tata Tiago hatchback from the stable of homegrown automaker revolutionized the hatchback segment wherein the car received an overwhelming response from the audience. Going by the fact this new Tiago hatch fulfils the overall needs of a consumer which looks to own brand-new car. Expected to hit Indian market by mid next year, the AMT unit is likely to be equipped on the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine whereas the 1.05-litre oil burner will continue to see a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine is capable of developing 85PS of power @ 6000 rpm against the peak torque of 114Nm @ 3500 rpm while the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine can easily produce 70PS @ 4000 rpm against the peak torque of 140Nm @ 1800 – 3000 rpm. Going by the spy shots, the upcoming Tiago AMT will sport regular shifter with R, N, D modes along with provision to shift to manual shifts like Maruti Celerio. The overall design of the cabin space will remain the same which will include good quality materials, piano black finished dashboard and extensive list of features. Talking about the fuel economy, the mileage figure is likely to be around the mileage proffered by the manual variant – 23.84 kmpl. Once launched, the new Tiago AMT will go head-on with Celerio AMT as well as Hyundai Grand i10 AT along with slight competition from Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT. Moreover, the overall exterior design of the AMT version will remain unchanged wherein the hatch will sport the same humanity grille, sweptback headlights, sporty tail gate integrated spoiler, stylish new tail lights and elegantly designed rear bumper. Dimensionally, the AMT iteration of Tiago is expected to remain same as that of regular manual variant which stands at 3746 mm of length, 1647mm of width and 1535mm of height along with wheelbase of 2400mm and 170mm of ground clearance.
