Suzuki recently unveiled the next-generation of its popular swift hatchback in the Japanese market. The global debut of the same is expected to happen at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and the same will be arriving in India during the festive season this year. In the Japanese market, Suzuki sells both the Swift and the Swift RS models. Now based on the later, the auto giant has come up with the Swift Racer RS model that it is going to showcase at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Revealed by Suzuki, the Swift Racer RS gets neon green lively on the outside which is reminiscence of Team Suzuki Ecstar from Moto GP. Apart from this livery, the Swift Racer Rs gets 17-inch alloy wheels that too adorns the neon painstrips, a cockpit which has been stripped to its bare bones and fitted with race spec Recaro seats. The Swift Racer RS is based on the same underpinnings of the Swift RS, the latter of which gets a 1.2-litre DUALJet 4-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 89Bhp along with 118Nm of peak torque while there will also is a 1.0-liter turbocharged BoosterJet engine on offer which is good for 100Bhp and 150Nm of peak torque. The Transmission responsibilities in the road legal, production spec model are taken care of by a 5-speed manual unit while there is also an automatic transmission on offer. When the 2017 Swift makes its debut in India i.e. by the end of this year, it is likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine, carry forward from the current set of engines from the Swift line-up.
When launched, the 2017 Swift in India is expected to retail in-between a price of INR 5.5lakh to 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
