We had earlier informed you that the Skoda Yeti might be replaced by the Karoq which is set to be unveiled at the Sweden Motor Show this month. Skoda Karoq SUV will be boasting of an all new design and more than a couple new turbocharged engines will be on offer.
We had reported that the Karoq will be placed below the kodiaq which is set to enter the Indian market very soon and bookings have already commenced. The Karoq design is somewhat along the lines of the Kodiaq and not like the SUV it replaces.
Skoda Karoq is based upon the widely used MQB platform and will compete against the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai and Audi Q2. It has been revealed that the Karoq will be coming with a choice of 5 turbocharged engines out of which four will be completely new units for Skoda.
The list of engines comprise of 1.0 litre, three cylinder TSI engine, 1.5 litre TSI while the two other diesel units will be 1.6 litre TDI with 2.0 litre TDI which will the quickest of the lot at a 7.8 secs taken for reaching a ton. The transmission duties will be handled by six-speed manual and 7-speed automatic DSG gearboxes which will send power to all 4-wheels or the 2-wheels. Skoda will also make available the Drive mode select system which can change the car’s settings to Normal, Snow, Eco, Individual and Snow.
Interiors will boast of a 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system and safety features which include adaptive cruise control, pedestrian braking system, hill assist and emergency assistance.
