Porsche India just sold a limited edition of the 911 R model which are limited to just 991 units throughout the whole world. The exclusive model which was purchased by a Porsche collector in Bangalore is the only one available in India.
The Porsche 911 R is born on the track and has been advancing for more than 50 years. Porsche 911 R is a part of heritage that stems from the original 911. The new 911 R pays tribute to the road-homologated racing car from 1967, which display Porsche’s commitment to creating innovative and emotional high-performance sports cars.
Commenting on the arrival, Porsche India’s Director, Pavan Shetty stated: “The 911 R epitomises the Porsche brand, with the clear design DNA of a classic 911 while performing as a racing car should. The 911 has set the standard for generations after the ground-breaking model was first introduced in the 1960’s. The 911 continues to evolve to new highs and is considered the quintessential sports car – the benchmark for all others. We are thrilled to be introducing the 911 R, a direct descendant from this famed model line, to a valuable, returning customer, who is fortunate enough to have the exclusive ownership of the only 911 R in India.”
Porsche 911 R features a 4.0 litre, flat six engine that delivers a power of 500 bhp with 460 Nm of torque @ 6,250 rpm while mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. 100 kmph from a standstill is achieved in 3.8 seconds and top speed is pegged at 323 kmph. The features in the Porsche include rear-axle steering, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) and 20 inch alloy wheels with 235 section upfront and 305 mm at rear.
The exterior design takes cues from 911 Carerra, a retractable spoiler, rear diffuser, carbon fibre made bonnet and wings whereas magnesium made roof aids the centre of gravity. The interiors on the other hand, get Pepita tartan design, R-specific steering wheel, R-specific steering and badging on seats.
