Mercedes Benz has been developing a new range of autonomous and safety technologies which will aid in preventing accidents and providing the peace of mind to the owners as well. The race for autonomous technology has been heating up with almost every large manufacturer jumping in the foray but the big questions have always remained regarding whether the same will be applicable to the Indian scenario. But some foreign brands like Volvo have provided the feature in their car and so will be the case with Mercedes S-Class which is set to enter the Indian market.
Mercedes Benz has been working on a new Active Distance function which can control the acceleration as well as the braking of a car on a route while keeping in mind the satellite navigation. This particular feature works in tandem with a new and improved Active Speed Limit Assist system.
More new features which will be thrown in the vehicle comprise of the updated Distronic cruise control system which has a function that allows for different settings of speed limit. The smart function can also differentiate between the regular speeds and the one posted on the machine to maintain a decent match between the two.
This system has assisted by a new upgraded stereo camera which has been fitted on the windscreen so it can scan the road signage and act accordingly. It will also be assisted by a new long range radar system which is capable of operating at up to 250 meters which will further help improve the safety net for the drivers. The new S-Class will be featuring these new age safety features most of which will be at the disposal of the driver to decide whether to keep them working. Whether it works or not in India is yet to be seen.
