Volkswagen is currently prepping the next-generation Polo hatchback which is to make its world premier sometime later this year. It is expected that the new age model is to go on the production line during the month of June 2017 for the international market and that the same is to arrive on the Indian soil by early next year.
Now ahead of its much anticipated debut, the 2017 Volkswagen Polo has been spotted completely undisguised in South Africa. Going by the spy images, the next-generation Volkswagen Polo is to sport a sharp and a lot more stylish exterior profile. That said, the overall silhouette remain identical to the current spec model.
The new age model of the Volkswagen Polo is based on the automaker’s MQB A0 platform for the international markets. However when it comes to India, it could be that the Polo will be based on Tata Motor’s AMP platform, going by the recent partnership between the two auto giants.
When the next-generation Volkswagen Polo comes to India it will be made available in both petrol as well as diesel engine options, just like the current model is. The petrol derivative will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine while the diesel derivative is to get a 1.5-litre oil burner. The transmission responsibilities will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Talking about the prices, the next-generation Volkswagen Polo could very well be priced in the bracket of INR 6 to 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
