Hyundai Motors India Limited, country’s second largest automaker strengthened its foothold in the country with the help of Creta Compact SUV. Introduced in the country last year, the Hyundai Creta bagged Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award. Moreover, the company retailed more than one lakh units in its first year itself. The South Korean automaker is now emphasizing more on expanding the range for its popular SUV in the domestic market. The company recently introduced the petrol automatic variant, low spec based diesel variant and limited edition Anniversary edition to strengthen its range. With the report coming from AutoCar, it is believed that the company will be introducing the next generation Creta with 7-seater option which is expected to hit the Indian roads in 2021.
According to the report from the publication, the automaker has already initiated the work on the next generation Creta which speculated to arrive in both 5-seater and 7-seater layout. Moreover, the Korean carmaker mulls over the fact that there are two types of buyers for each of these variants and the automaker wishes to cater them all.
On the international front, the South Korean automaker is all set to reveal the facelift version of the Creta at the forthcoming 2016 Sao Paolo Auto Show. The refreshed Creta will sport all-new front fascia besides subtle styling tweaks and the facelifted version might arrive at the Indian shores in the near future.
Considering the competitors that aim at the buyers looking to purchase 7-seater SUV easily opt for Honda BR-V or Mahindra XUV 500 /Scorpio, or other models such as NuvoSport and TUV300 from a segment lower.
With the growing market share of SUVs and crossovers, a seven-seater Creta might play an essential role for the carmaker to cater the buyers looking for 7-seater SUV. With the inclusion of 7-seater variant in its portfolio, Hyundai Creta will unfold another set of customers to enhance its overall volumes.
