Skoda, a Czech based automaker has officially revealed the new facelift version of its performance flagship which will carry all new front profile styling and dual-headlights. On the exterior front, the new Octavia vRS will carry signature style grille with fully adaptive LED headlights, LED DRLS, wider air dams, 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, Black coloured ORVMs, body coloured door handles and much more. On the inside, the new vRS facelift will bag optional Alcantara upholstery that will be offered with ambient lighting as standard fitment. The company has also incorporated Simply Clever touches to the vRS that comprises of an umbrella beneath the passenger seat as well as an LED torch which is removable from the boot lid.
Talking about the grip factor, the company has worked on this aspect by making it 3cm wider as compared to current Octavia which stands at 1cm. Under the hood, the Skoda Octavia vRS will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant will be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill capable of developing 217bhp of max power and 350Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel variant will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will be good for 182bhp and 380 Nm of power figures. The transmission responsibilities will be carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 6-speed DSG as well. The petrol mill on vRS is capable of generating extra horsepower which enables the new vRS to touch down 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds.
As part of Skoda's Dynamic Chassis Control system, the new facelifted vRS also comes with a drive selector which enables to choose different driving modes – Sport, Normal or Comfort. The new 2017 Octavia vRS facelift will also be equipped with driver aid systems that comprises of trailer assist, blind spot detect and rear traffic alert which cautious the driver regarding the approaching traffic while reversing. The new vRS also comes with a crew protect assist function that secures windows and tightens seatbelts when a probable crash is being detected.
Skoda India recently introduced the rapid facelift in India and is gearing up to launch the new the Skoda Octavia Black Edition which was internationally revealed in the year 2014. The Black Edition series comprises sportier versions of the models in the Skoda range. Skoda India might introduce the Octavia vRS in the Indian market sometime by next year.
