As known to us already, Maruti Suzuki is to launch the next-generation Swift hatchback in the Indian car market by the end of this year or early 2018. Now according to a report published in ET Auto, it is to be believed that the production of the latest iteration of this urban compact hatchback is to commence by the end of this year at the automaker’s newly inaugurated Gujarat plant.
The new Maruti Swift 2017, as informed to you by us earlier is going to be a completely new vehicle from the ground up. This hatch in its new-age avatar will be based on the light weight yet robust chassis of the Maruti Baleno and the Maruti Ignis. Already unveiled in the international markets, it is likely that the car will be showcased in our country at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
The new Maruti Swift 2017 gets a bolder look, thanks to its completely redesigned exterior profile. it still gets the subtle looks of the Swift hatchback but with the added touch of sportiness. In lieu with the changing trend in the Indian car market, the next-generation Swift is going to feature a premium cabin which is expected to come with all sorts of latest creature comforts and features.
Not only this, as the new Maruti Swift 2017 will launch in the midst of changing vehicular safety norms in India, it will come with dual air-bags and ABS with EBD as standard equipment; with the top of the line variants getting more. In the engine department, no change is expected. The petrol derivative will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre VVT motor while the diesel is to be the same 1.3-litre DDiS oil-burner. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard across both the variants. There could be a chance that Maruti might just provide in with a AMT unit as well.
Talking about prices, the new Maruti Swift 2017 is expected to retail at around INR 4.8 lakh to INR 7.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
