We informed you earlier that country’s leading automaker is working on mid-facelift version of Honda City rival which is expected to hit Indian market by early next year. The mid-size sedan segment is one of the most lucrative segments in the market wherein rivals such as Honda City and Hyundai Verna are in no mood to leave for the competitor chip-in. In order to make things more difficult for the rivals, Maruti Suzuki India is planning to incorporate a 1.6-litre engine to Ciaz which will derive it with more power. Moreover, the carmaker is also looking to make Ciaz sedan as more premium in nature as the facelift version is expected to hit Indian roads through premium dealership – NEXA. Maruti Ciaz is certainly well appreciated sedan from the stable of Indo-Japanese carmaker which is giving its rivals a run for their money because of the SHVS mild-hybrid technology. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the most cost effective hybrid in India as it fulfils the value for money quotient for the buyers. But, common complaints related to Ciaz are that it is being underpowered as far as the engine options are concerned. Currently, the Ciaz sedan is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options wherein the diesel unit is powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that develops max power of 89 BHP against 200 Nm while the petrol variant comes with a 1.4-litre petrol mill that produces 91 BHP and 130 Nm of power figures.
With an aim to meet aspirations of the consumers, Maruti Suzuki India is now focusing to incorporate Ciaz sedan with S-Cross sourced 1.6-litre oil burner which develops 118bhp of power along with peak torque of 320Nm. The 1.6-litre engine option will be seen on top of the line variant whereas the mid and base variants will be seen with a 1.3-litre engine.
Having said that the new Ciaz will be rolled out from NEXA premium outlet, the carmaker already sells Baleno and S-Cross from the same dealership. The upcoming Maruti Ignis Mini crossover will also be brought through Nexa dealership chain.
We earlier reported that Maruti Suzuki is looking to cater wider audience with prime focus on its image as value for money producer. The Indo-Japanese automaker is working currently on developing low cost hybrid technology which will help the carmaker to manufacture cars with higher fuel economy. Moreover, R C Bhargava mentioned that the company doesn’t have anything bigger than Ciaz sedan. So, it is quite evident that the carmaker is making efforts to derive the sedan more premium appeal with a feel to proffer services as per the demands for middle class consumers.
