Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is soon going to be retailed exclusively through the automaker’s NEXA dealership outlets starting from April 1 2017. With the shift, the Ciaz’s variants will now follow the NEXA nomenclature. There will be no changes done to the Ciaz with this shift, apart from the introduction of a new colour. Nevertheless, the Ciaz will continue to compete with its biggest competitor, the 2017 Honda City. Here is a detailed comparison between the two.

The Honda City 2017 prices fall in the range of INR 8.49 lakh to INR 13.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). There is a slight increase in comparison to the existing model whereas the Suzuki Ciaz is sold at a starting price of INR 7.53 lakh (ex-Delhi) for the Base variant going till 10.52 lakh for the top end ZXi variant.

The New Honda City 2017 features the same set of engines which are currently carrying out their respective duties in both petrol and diesel variants. On offer will be a 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine which churns out a power output of 117 bhp @ 6600 rpm while the torque figures stands at 145 Nm @ 4600 rpm which is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. The 1.5 litre oil burner, on the contrary, puts out 99 bhp of power with 200 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels. Meanwhile Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is available with a 1.4 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that displaces 1372 cc engine that puts out 91 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm. The diesel engine on the other hand, is mated to a 1.3-litre unit producing a power output of 89 bhp with 200 Nm of torque paired to an SHVS system. Both these engines are mated to a 5-speed transmission while there is an option of 4-speed automatic transmission.

The New Honda City 2017 featurs an enhanced infotainment system with piano finish given the center console. This system will now feature a new 15.7 cm touchscreen with the facility of Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity paired with eight speakers. Leather upholstery will be on offer and so will be a leather wrapped steering along with same treatment being given to the gear knob inside the vehicle. Honda City will continue to be offered with cruise control, folding rear seats, sunroof, auto climate control, multi-function steering wheel and tilt/telescopic multi-function steering wheel. In terms of safety features, it will get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill hold control, child safety lock and engine immobilizer.
As for the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz it is a feature loaded proposition as it comes with sporty leather seats, multi-function steering wheel, height adjustable seats, rear AC vents, Touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX-in, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation system along with start/stop button.
