Honda Car India has launched the new City 2017 facelift in India at a base price of INR 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The same comes as a mid-life facelift of the current generation of this c-segment sedan, which comes in order to make this vehicle once again stand shoulder to shoulder with the rising competition in its segment. The 2017 City comes with sleeker head-lights which have LED DRLs in them on the top spec variants. The front bumper has been tweaked as well and gets LED fog-lamps. There is more use of LEDs towards the back on the vehicle in the tail-lights, also, the 2017 model gets a boot-lid mounted spoiler which gets a mounted stop-lamp. All of these modifications, make the new Honda City 2017 look quite a lot better than the model it replaces.
On the inside, things remain exactly the same as before. The new Honda City 2017 will get a dashboard layout which is in-line with the 2016 model. It comes with a biege and black colour scheme which is highlighted by an extensive use of silver highlights, scattered across the cabin. The only major change that one is to notice is the fitment of an all new touchscreen infotainment system with the rest of the equipment list remaining the same as before. The 2017 City will get the 2016 model’s large and round dials on the instrument cluster, the touch sensitive module for the air-con controls and the engine start stop button.
In terms of engine specifications, the new Honda City 2017 will carry forward the same line-up as that of the 2016 model. The petrol derivative gets the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine churning out 120Bhp along with 140Nm of peak torque. The diesel derivative is to be the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor churning out 99Bhp along with 200Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities for the petrol variant are to be handle by a 5-speed manual unit, while there will be a CVT automatic on offer as well. In comparison to the 2016 model, the New Honda City 2017 with get a 7-speed paddle shifters system with the CVT as opposed to a 5-speed system. For the diesel derivative, a 6-speed gearbox will be on offer.
As far as the prices are concerned, the 2016 Honda City fell in the range of INR 7.97 lakh to 12.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). For the 2017 model, the prices fall in the range of INR 8.49 lakh to INR 13.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
