The new Honda City facelift has been launched at a starting price of INR 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be heating up the competitive C-sedan segment. The base petrol variant S starts at INR 8,49,990 and goes till INR 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top spec ZX diesel variant. The mid-life facelift of the City has been brought in just 3 years later and the dealers have already started accepting booking amount of INR 51,000. The payments can be made through cash, online payment and net banking facilities.
The variants on offer are S(MT), SV (MT), V (MT and CVT), VX (MT and CVT) and ZX (CVT). Honda Motors India is also offering a standard warranty of 3 years along with an option of extending it to 5 years with Road-side assistance. The colour palette for the buyers to choose from will consist of these five shades- Orchid Pearl White, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red Pearl, Golden Brown and Steel Grey.
The exteriors of the Honda City gets new sleeker looking headlamps with LED DRLS ( daytime running lamps) and the chrome strip placed in the center over a honeycomb mesh grille. The front fascia also gets a redesigned bumper fitted with circular fog lamps. Towards the sides it gets the same structure as the earlier City and 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
The engines on offer remain same with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit which churns out a power output of 117 bhp @ 6600 rpm while the torque figures stand at 145 Nm @ 4600 rpm which is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT with 7-speed paddle shifters. The 1.5-litre oil burner, on the contrary puts out 99 bhp of power with 200 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels.
Step into the cabin, a sense of familiarity takes over as the dashboard layout is similar to the previous model with only difference being the addition of a 7 inch touchscreen display with better graphics coupled with 8 speakers. This unit comes with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity and also doubles up as rear parking camera view and navigation system. Other features on offer are leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery and gearknob, cruise control, folding rear seats, sunroof, auto climate control, multi-function steering wheel, sunroof and armrests at front as well as rear.
In terms of safety, it features dual front airbags as standard with 6 airbags in higher variants, ABS with EBD, Hill hold control, child safety lock, speed sensing door locks and engine immobilizer fitting perfectly in sync with Honda’s safety first approach.
