Honda Car India has finally launched the much awaited Amaze compact sedan in the Indian market with a price tag of INR 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Moreover, the new Honda Amaze was also spotted at dealership yard prior to its launch that gave a clear picture about revamped exteriors and refreshed interiors. The current version of Honda Amaze compact sedan emerged as the one of the best selling cars from the company since 2013. Later, the compact sedan received many minor additions such as addition of new variants and special editions. But this is the first time that the company is offering a major makeover the compact sedan with slightly upgraded exteriors and much premium feel to the cabin. On the exterior front, the new Honda Amaze 2016 features bigger dual slat chrome grille, beefy front bumpers flanked by integrated fog lamp housing and wider air-dam. The side profile remains the same with body coloured door handles, dual character lines and newly designed alloy wheels. The rear profile of the compact sedan bags conventional chrome bar above the registration number plate and newly designed tail lamps. The rear profile of the compact sedan features redesigned tail lamps which are connected by the chrome garnish wrapped across the boot lid. Also the company insignia placed in the centre of the boot lid with Amaze branding and variant badging at the right corner. Dimensionally, the new sub 4-metre compact sedan measures 3900mm in overall length, 1680mm in total width, 1505mm in total height along with a wheelbase of 2,405mm and ground clearance of 165mm.
On the inside, it gets new cabin soft-touch dual-tone dashboard which has been borrowed from the Honda BR-V that was showcased at the Delhi Auto Show 2016 last month. The dashboard is inspired from the SUV while the instrument cluster is lifted from the Jazz hatch. On the feature front, it comes with touch-screen AVN system, automatic climate control system, and steering mounted audio and telephony controls and revised air-conditioning vents. On the mechanical front, the new compact sedan remains the same and continues to be equipped with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol. The diesel engine efficiently produces power figures of 99bhp and 200Nm torque and it is the same engine that is equipped in the Honda City as well as the Jazz. While the petrol variant is equipped with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that produces power of 87bhp along with torque of and 109Nm. The transmission functionalities are taken care by a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed CVT unit. In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol variant returns mileage of 18kmpl (manual), 15.5kmpl (automatic), 18.1 (CVT) whereas the diesel variant offers fuel efficiency of 25.8kmpl.
As far as the price is concerned, new facelift version is priced in the range of INR 5.29 lakh to INR 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). On competition front, the new Honda Amaze 2016 competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Zest.
