Nissan India has already revealed its intention that it is going to launch at least 8 new products into the Indian market till the year 2021. All the products are going to be premium and are in accordance to the upmarket philosophy that Nissan wants to be associated with.
Thus one of the first premium vehicle from the company will be the Nissan X-Trail which will be its first hybrid SUV in the Indian market and will be brought in as a completely built-up unit, so expect the prices to be on the higher side. The company considers it a very important product and expect that it will impart a positive momentum to the company in the highly competitive Indian market.
The X-Trail will be powered by either a 1.6 litre or a 2.0 litre Diesel engine with a hybrid powertrain and deliver a max power output of 128 bhp along with a peak torque output of 320 Nm while mated to a 6-speed CVT transmission. Moreover, it will be capable off-road as well due to the availability of a 4WD system. The seating capacity of the new X-Trail will be around 7 with generous comfort as well. Nissan had earlier showcased the X-Trail at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and is expected to launch in the country by the end of this year. The pricing is expected to be in the range of INR 30 to 35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and it will compete against the likes of Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson. Although, it doesn’t have any direct rival because the SUV will be powered by a hybrid powertrain.
