Mercedes, after reportedly pulling out its ultra-luxury brand Maybach because of dwindling sales, never really stopped production of the models like the 57, 62 and Landaulet. Now though, the company has mutely confirmed that Maybach will be officially discontinued.
The company didn’t even issue any press release to announce the news; instead a pricelist list was released with “Discontinued” written next to all of Maybach models. In order to clear off the remaining stock, the luxury brand is apparently offering discounts worth over Rs 50 lakh on its existing lineup.
To take on the likes of Rolls Royce and Bentley, Maybach was revived by Mercedes’ parent company Daimler in 2003. However, the ailing brand never really made any money and failed to catch on and impress its wealthy target customers.
