Mercedes Benz has been owning up to its previous promise of taking the Indian market seriously and is all set to launch the 220d variant of the E-Class LWB which they introduced a couple of months back. Thus when launched, E-Class will be available in a choice of three variants with the existing ones including the E200 and E350d.
The much awaited E 220 d will feature Mercedes-Benz’s ground breaking new engine in addition to a host of technological, safety and comfort features. It will be rolled out of the Mercedes’s India’s Chakan facility in Pune and will be done by Mr. Roland Folger, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India and Mr. Piyush Arora, Executive Director, Operations, Mercedes-Benz India.
Mercedes Benz E220d LWB will be the replacement for the E250D and they have even received more than 100 bookings for the same by now. The made in India Merc E-Class will be featuring a sporty dual slat front chromium grille with the tri-star placed in the middle and stylish multi spoke alloy wheels. On terms of size, it has a 5063 mm of length, wheelbase of 3079 mm, 1860 mm in width and 1494 mm of height.
The main highlight is the diesel engine which is a 4 pot, 1995cc motor developing 191 bhp with 400 Nm of torque which comes mated to a 9-speed 9G tronic gearbox. On the inside, the feature list will be as extensive as the petrol version comprising of touch sensitive buttons for climate control, 12 inch touchscreen system and MID with multi-function steering wheel.
