Come end of April and we will get our first glimpse of the much-awaited Maserati Ghibli. As reported earlier, Maserati will showcase its new four-door sedan at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, and the first teaser image released by the carmaker is already offering us something good to look forward to.
There really isn’t much to see in the teaser but the overall shape behind the drape is pretty close to what we have already seen in the images of the prototype Ghibli spotted just last month. Although Maserati hasn’t revealed many details, what’s certain is that the Ghibli will be powered by an all-new 3-liter twin-turbo V6 producing around 400 PS of power. Also, Maserati could launch a diesel-powered version of the Ghibli with a 3-liter V6 diesel engine sourced from the Chrysler 300 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Set to compete against the likes of BMW 5-Series and Audi A6, the Ghibli (unlike its ultra luxurious and sporty cousin – the Quattroporte) is more of a mainstream sedan for Maserati. The Ghibli, in fact, will be one of the key models to help Maserati achieve its aim of selling about 50,000 cars a year by 2015.
