Irrespective of competition in the market, the Swift has always managed to sustain the impact on the hatchback segment. The carmaker recently introduced Deca edition for the Swift hatch earlier this year. Previously, Maruti Suzuki also introduced two limited editions for the Swift – Swift Glory Limited Edition and Swift Windsong Limited edition.
Currently, in its third generation, Maruti Suzuki Swift has been amongst the hot hatchbacks in the country which has tasted such long success in the segment. With the arrival of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback along with ever increasing competition from Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz, the Swift hatch seems to be losing its charm in the market.
In order to revive the Swift hatch, Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the next generation Swift 2017 in the country. Expected to arrive by mid 2017, the next generation Swift has been spotted while testing in Europe which clearly give hints that the India launch is imminent. All set to make an official debut at 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the new generation will be based on the same platform as that of Baleno thus deriving it to be lighter in weight as compared to the outgoing model.
The new Swift is expected to sport new exterior front which will be complemented by new hexagonal grille, projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, round fog lamps, sloping roofline, new rear bumper and LED taillights. The upgradation will be carried out on the inside as well, as the new Swift will carry new cabin which is expected to be inspired from Baleno hatch. Under the hood, the new Swift is speculated to carry the same set of engines.
Maruti Suzuki India is looking to proffer a new reason for the Swift lovers to fall for the hatch yet again as it will sport aggressive exterior front along with premium interiors with commanding power source which derives Swift hatchback still as a commanding player in the hatchback segment.
