Automakers in India have now been stepping up the game to make the new cars to be introduced as well as the existing ones, to be safer. Joining the ranks of the same is now Maruti Suzuki which, according to a report published in Team BHP, will now be providing driver’s side airbags as a standard feature across its entire variant range.
The official confirmation regarding the same from the automaker is yet to be made. Earlier, the Swift came with dual front air-bags only in the top end ZXi and ZDi trims with the base versions getting these as optional extras. Now however, the driver’s side airbags will be available as a standard fixture right from the LXi and LDi trims. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently running in its second generation model in India and is soon going to receive a generation update later this year. The Swift has set a benchmark for all the cars that fall in its segment and continues to be the preferred choice for buyers looking a mid-size, feature rich and dependable hatchback.
The Swift is available with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. The former is a 1.2-litre K-Series unit pumping out 83Bhp along with 115Nm of peak torque while the later is a 1.3-litre DDiS oil-burner producing 74Bhp along with 190Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities are handled by a 5-speed automatic gearbox as standard on both the guises.
The prices for the base petrol variant of the Maruti Swift start at INR 4.75 lakh while the top spec diesel trim retails at INR 7.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
