We previously informed you that Maruti Suzuki India introduced special edition Swift based on entry level LXi and LDi variants. Moreover, making them more safety oriented, the carmaker has incorporated driver airbag as standard on Swift DLX edition. The petrol variant LXi is priced at INR 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while the diesel variant gets a price tag of INR 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of features, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift DLX edition is equipped with features such as fog lamps, all four power windows, bluetooth and USB connectivity with speakers, central locking, and blackened pillars and much more. The main underline about Swift DLX edition is that these features are offered on the base variants which are generally not seen on the same. Moreover, adding convenience on the inside, this special edition gets 60:40 split seats, tilt adjustable steering wheel, optional ABS with EBD, electrical power steering and much more.
Talking more about the specifications, it continues to be powered by the same 1.2-litre K-Series VVT petrol engine along with 1.3-litre DDiS oil burner. The petrol engine is capable of developing 83 bhp along with 115Nm of peak torque while the diesel burner can churn out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The transmission duties are taken care by 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
As a reminder, Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up to launch the next-generation Swift hatchback in the country by mid 2017. It will be based on the modular platform as that of Baleno deriving its lighter and sturdy. Suzuki Motor Corp launched the new generation Swift in Japanese market by the end of 2016. It will sport design updates with no mechanical changes with stuble changes on the inside as well.
