The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is selling in India like hot cakes. The compact SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker was launched in India about a year back and since then it has now managed to garner over 2 lakh bookings. Maruti Suzuki sold over 8,000 units of the Vitara Brezza in the month of December 2016, making it the 8th best-selling vehicle in India for that duration.
The demand for the Brezza is such that currently the waiting period for the same stands at over 27 weeks (6 months) for certain variants which are in high demand. Things are only set to improve once Maruti’s new Manufacturing plant becomes operational in Gujarat. Not only this, buoyed by the response it has received for the Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is in works of introducing petrol powered variant of the compact SUV. Though not confirmed, this new derivative could very well be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged BoosterJet engine which churns out in excess of 100bhp of power. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder DDiS diesel engine which churns out 89Bhp along with 200Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Available in a total of 6 trims, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza become the Indian Car of the Year 2017. The prices for the base model of this compact SUV is slotted at INR 7.19 lakh while the top of the line model retails at INR 9.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
