The Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the Indo-Japanese automaker’s latest product aimed at the young millennial population of India is off to a good start. Since its launch on January 13th this year, the same has managed to clock over 4830 units in sales.
The Ignis has been the centre of attraction and the hot topic as even before the launch, soon after the bookings were open, Maruti dealerships reported 6,000 bookings with the same going up to 10,000 after the launch. Read Also: Maruti Suzuki Ignis to feature Bridgestone’s ECOPIA EP150 Tyre
The Maruti Ignis gets an attractive profile, something which has not yet been seen on a Maruti before. Coupled with that, it comes with a feature loaded cabin which too sports its own unique identity thanks to its flamboyant aesthetics.
Another major strength of the Ignis is its versatile line-up of powertrains which consists of both petrol and diesel derivatives. The former is a 1.2-litre unit generating 82Bhp along with 113Nm of peak torque. The latter is a 1.3-litre unit pumping out 74Bhp along with 190Nm of peak torque. Handling the transmission responsibilities is a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while there is also a 5-speed speed AMT available to choose from. The Ignis is exclusively sold through Maruti’s premium NEXA dealerships alongside the Baleno and the S-Cross. The biggest USP of the Ignis is its competitive price tag whee the base petrol version costs INR 4.59 lakh with the top of the line version retailing at INR 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the Ignis primarily compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and the Mahindra KUV100.
