Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Indo-Japanese automaker’s c-segment sedan is of to a good start for the year 2017 as the same has now moved up to the spot of the 10th best-selling car for the month of January 2017. The same has been devoid of this list for the past 3 months, despite dominating the segment and outselling all its rivals.
The sedan sold a total of 6530 units for the duration which accounts for a 20 percent increase in its sales. Offered with the country’s first Smart Hybrid Technology, the Ciaz diesel currently stands as the most fuel efficient vehicle in its segment. Other Maruti cars included in the list were the Alto 800, Dzire, Wagon R, Swift, Celerio and Baleno, in that order with places of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th. Respectively, each one of them sold 22,998 units, 18,088 units, 14930 units, 14,545 units 10,879 units and 10,479 units. Read Also: Maruti Baleno RS expected to launch in March 2017
The sales of Alto observed an increase of 7 percent, that of Dzire 29 percent, Wagon R observed 17 percent, Swift 3 percent, Celerio 52 percent and that of Baleno 36 percent. Also, interestingly, after a span of about 9 months, the Maruti Celerio outsold the Baleno by a total of 403 units.
From other manufacturers, the cars included in the list were the Hyundai Grand i10 at the 5th spot, selling a total13,010 units, observing a growth of 31 percent. The Hyundai Elite i20 stood at the 8th spot with over 10,010 sold an observing an increase of 4 percent. At the 9th spot is the Renault KWID, with over 6,924 units observed an increase in its sales of about 16 percent.
