Maruti Suzuki India Limited has increased its dealership footprint by expanding its dealerships network of 2,007 across the country. The company put its foot to the expansion pedal in the fiscal year 2011-12 by growing from 1,100 dealerships to the current number of outlets that too across 1643 cities. Maruti Suzuki India also expects to sell almost 20 lakh units per annum by the year 2020.
In the previous five years, the Indian car manufacturer has been adding 200 outlets every fiscal year and doubled its mark from 800 cities in the FY 2011-12 to the current number of 1643. In a statement to ETAuto, a company spokesperson told, “In recent years just as the company has introduced new models in new segments, the company has also consciously expanded it sales outlets, introduced new channel to reach out to new set of customers through Nexa,”
Maruti Suzuki has already struck a purple patch and hopes to achieve its goal of expanding the network tally to 4000 by the year 2020. The company also hopes to introduce at least 15 new models to add to its product portfolio in the country by the year 2020.
Maruti Suzuki India limited is also focusing on increasing the Nexa premium dealerships in the country as well, which are expected to grow from 127 last year to 250 by the end of this year. The company official also added that “This includes a 360 degree expansion across all formats — existing channel, Nexa, commercial and True Value. Our aim will be to be closer to customers,”
Maruti Suzuki is going to up the ante and increase the heat across several segments at the dawn of the new fiscal year as it will be bringing four new products, two out of which will just be updates of the existing models.
