Mahindra & Mahindra has issued a silent recall for the Thar SUV owners in India. M&M has not issued any official statement but we have confirmed the news from our sources who have suggested that the Thar owners need to visit the service centers by themselves if they are facing any problems.
The main fault is with the fuel float sensor which leads to inaccurate readings on the fuel gauge. The fuel gauge is unable to read the amount of diesel in the vehicle which made several owners worry about leakages or a problem with the fuel efficiency of the SUV. Even after filling up the tank to the brim with diesel, the problem persisted which is why the vehicle has now been recalled for replacement of the problematic part.
You can call up your nearest Mahindra dealer for replacing the problem inducing part free of cost. Moreover, it will take around 3 hours for the whole process of changing the sensor as it is attached to the fuel tank which will need to be disintegrated from Thar.
The engine offers on the Mahindra Thar include a 2.5 litre CRDe in two states of tune. One is the basic model which churns out 63 bhp @ 3200 rpm whereas the torque is 182.5 Nm @ 1500-1800 rpm. Another one produces 105 bhp of power with 247 Nm of torque and sends power to the 4X4 system through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Thar gets mechanical differential locking system making it an absolute gem on the path less taken.
