Replacing the existing 2.2-litre diesel mil from the Discovery Sport, Land Rover has now equipped this SUV with a new 2.0-litre Ingenium oil-burner. The old engine has now been permanently discontinued from the Indian car market.
The new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine is a 4-cylinder unit which will be made available in India in two states of tune. In one guise, it is to produce 148Bhp along with 382Nm of peak torque while in the other, it is to come churning out 177bhp along with 430Nm of peak torque.
The former is to come in the lower trims of the Discovery Sport while the later will be offered in the higher trims. The Discovery Sport will continue to come with a 2.0-litre petrol motor which is good for 237Bhp of power along with 340Nm of peak torque. Talking about the prices, the diesel trims will retail at the following prices. The base Pure trim will retail at INR 50.72 lakh, the SE trim at INR 57 lakh, HSE trim at INR 60.86 lakh with the top of the line model i.e. the HSE Luxury trim retailing at INR 64.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
