Come 11th of May this year and Isuzu Motors is going to launch the 2017 MU-X SUV in the Indian car market. This full sized SUV, featuring a 7-seater layout, will fall in the price spectrum of INR 25 to 30 lakh. This SUV will replace the existing MU-7 and primarily compete against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the current segment leader. The Isuzu MU-X, coming to India on the 11th of May 2017, is expected to be priced in the bracket of INR 25 lakh to INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Isuzu MU-X vs Toyota Fortuner: Features
The Isuzu MU-X comes loaded with a host of features on board. Some of these include LED DRLs, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, rear parking camera with display, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, day and night rear view mirror, power sockets to name a few. The top of the line models will feature up to 6 airbags along with ABS and EBD, hill-hold control and other safety features.
Coming to the Toyota Fortuner, this Japanese 4×4 comes with leather wrapped steering wheel with controls, tilt and telescopic adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, second row air-con vents, leather seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, touchscreen infotainment system, charging sockets, cooled-glove box, engine push start-stop button, rear parking sensors with camera, automatic day and night mirror among the others. In terms of safety the Toyota Fortuner comes with multiple air-bags, ABS and EBD and other electronic safety equipment.
Isuzu MU-X vs Toyota Fortuner: Engine Specifications
The Isuzu MU-X is expected to be offered with two diesel engines when it arrives in the Indian car market. First is to be a 1.9-litre unit, capable of producing 148bhp along with 350Nm of peak torque. The second one is to be a 3.0-litre unit producing 175Bhp along with 380Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities are to be taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox for the 1.9-litre motor while the former is to get a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There will be both 2WD and 4WD unit on offer.
Now to the Toyota Fortuner, this SUV too gets the choice of two engines. One is to be a 2.7-litre petrol unit while the other is a 2.8-litre oil-burner. The former is good for producing 165Bhp along with 245Nm of peak torque while the latter can churn out 174Bhp along with 420Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual transmission while there is also a 6-speed auto on offer. Both 2WD and 4WD drive options are available.
