Hyundai is currently working on an all new product, new compact SUV which it is going to base upon the current i20 platform. It is expected that the South Korean automaker will make this vehicle’s world debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, however, the same is not confirmed yet. Now according to the report published in a Korean news website, it is most likely that this new product will be called the ‘Kona’ by Hyundai.
The name ‘kona’ comes from a Hawaiian region which is best known for a number of Coffee products. Much like other Hyundai cars which have been named on the basis of various other such famous placed on the globe.
Apart from its speculated name, no other concrete details regarding to this SUV have been revealed as of yet. However, what we do know is that this SUV, when launched in the country will be placed in-between the currently on sale Creta and Tucson. As far as the engine specifications of the Hyundai Kona are concerned, it is expected that the same will be available in both petrol and diesel derivatives. Hyundai could very well deploy its 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol or its 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol mils while the oil-burners are also expected to be of the same capacity as well. No official launch date for the Hyundai Kona in India has been confirmed as of yet, but it could very well make its debut by the end of next-year or so. The prices could very well fall in the bracket of INR 12 to 16 lakh (ex-showroom)
