Hyundai Motor India has been observing quite an overwhelming response from domestic car buyer in the country. In the calendar year 2016, the automaker, for the first time, observed a sales figure of more than 5 lakh (5,00,537) units. With exports standing at 1,61,517, the South Korean automaker’s witnessed an overall growth of 2.9 percent for 2016.
Commenting on HMIL’s performance in Calendar year 2016, Mr. YK Koo, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India said, “ 2016 has been an Year of Excellence for Hyundai in India achieving various milestones – Celebrating 20 years in India, the roll out of 7 Millionth car in November’16, crossing the 5 lakh domestic sales in CY2016 and the fastest 50,000 unit sales in the month of October”
He further added that “The launch of All new Elantra and Tucson have created new benchmarks in their respective segments signifying Hyundai as a trendsetter brand in India. Hyundai brands have also scored top rankings in both quality and design parameters in IQS and APEAL studies. Hyundai plans to continue with its onslaught on the Indian automotive scenario and on its competition, through multiple launches which it has planned for our country. Come next year and the first of which is to be the debut of the 2017 Verna which is to be soon followed by the launch of the Grand i10 facelift. Come 2018 and Hyundai will debut the first ever sub-compact SUV, the Carlino which in the year 2019 will be accompanied by the next-generation Santro.
