Getting high on the trend for 4WD drive cars as they offer superior grip in comparison to 2WD cars, Dodge has now equipped the iconic Challenger with a 4WD drive system. Don’t get to excited, the 4WD drive version will only come equipped with a V6 engine and that too only with an automatic gearbox. The same has been made for the American and other international markets to tackle the winter snow laden months.
Do not at any point assume that the V6 that comes with the Dodge Challenger is a punny one.
This pumps out a massive 305Bhp of power along with 363Nm of peak torque. The same is mated to an 8-speed, Chrysler borrowed automatic transmission. The car does not always have to be driven in 4WD drive mode. When in the need of fun, the transfer box will let to actively shift between 2WD and 4WD.
The same comes loaded with various electric aids to put you back on road if you ever were to loose control. These include the Vehicle Dynamic Control that aids the all-wheel drive system, and Electronic Stability Control.
No visual modifications have been done to the Challenger’s iconic profile as it remain identical to the 2WD driver versions. It continues to get LED Halo ring headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels with gunmetal finish LED tail-lamps among the usual attractions. On the inside, the blue collar workmen’s car comes with an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system which comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also the upholstery comes draped in Nappa leather and Alcantara seats.
As you may already know, the Dodge Challenger is not currently being sold in India. But with the Fiat Chrysler group working on its expansion strategy in India, we might just see the launch of the same in the near future, fingers crossed. At the moment, the Dodge 2WD is to retail at cost of $34,490 which approximately translated into INR 23. 25 lakh in India. Even if the car is directly imported to India, the prices could be just in access of INR 50 lakh, making it cheaper by about INR 10 lakh with its rival, the Ford Mustang.
