Indian automobile design guru- Dilip Chhabria aka DC has been a well renowned personality in the country when it comes to modification of vehicles be it a sedan, MPV, buse or SUV. Tarzan- The Wonder Car was one of the most talked about project of this auto designer whih made him an inspiration for many designers across the country. This famous car designer has been selling DC Lounge interior makeover kits for a longtime now.
After the Bollywood movie, it was the tastefully modified Toyota Innova which changed the perception about this home based designer and later DC showcased the fully kitted up Mahindra XUV 5OO. Dilip Chhabria's Lounge concept is simple – first take any regular (with larger wheelbase) car, strip out the company fitted interiors and swap them with a more lavish set-up against which even some of the luxury cars can get a run for their money. That said, the opulence on the inside on the vehicles post the mod work reflects on how perfectly everything has been pondered and executed.
Same is the case with the Mahindra XUV500, wherein the design firm has removed the second as well as the last row seats. After which, they bolted a brand new set of two 24-inch captain seats, which are of course fully electric and recline up to 150 degrees, a feature which further makes them more comfortable and adequate for long distance traveling. The seats are wrapped in premium brown leather which complements the overall theme of the cabin.
In addition to the seats, the standard Mahindra XUV 500's roof has also been altered and now it gets an aircraft style inspired centre module with diffused ambient lightening inside the cabin. The rear seat occupants get individual set of reading lights, 10.4-inch LCD screens (that can be connected to a wide array of sources like DVD players, laptops among others) which are attached to the back of the front seats, a pair of tables with sliding tops and glass holders to keep your laptops or other handy material.
If done properly, a modification can make even a regular vehicle quite swanky.
